Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1853, to July 1, 1858, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to

Bvt. Second Lieut. of Dragoons, July 1, 1858.

Served: at the Cavalry School for Practice, Carlisle, Pa., 1858‑59;

(Second Lieut., 1st Dragoons, Mar. 29, 1859)

on frontier duty at Ft. Crook, Cal., 1859‑60, being engaged in a Skirmish near Ft. Crook, Cal., Aug. 15, 1859, — and Ft. Churchill, Nev., 1860‑61; and on leave of absence, 1861.

First Lieut., 1st Dragoons, Apr. 26, 1861.

Resigned, May 13, 1861.

Joined in the Rebellion of 1861‑66 against the United States.​b

Died, June 25, 1864, of Wounds received in the Battle of Piedmont, Va.: Aged 30.

b As with other Confederate officers, Cullum's Register omits his war record: according to the Southern Historical Society Papers he served as Asst. Adjutant-General on the staff of Lieutenant-General Indicates a West Point graduate and gives his Class.Polk (of the Army of Mississippi and the Army of Tennessee), with the rank of Major.
