Served: on frontier duty in conducting Recruits to Ft. Cobb, I. T., 1860, — Ft. Cobb, I. T., 1860‑61, — Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., 1861. Second Lieut., 7th Infantry, Feb. 26, 1861. Served during the Rebellion of the Seceding States, 1861‑66: in the (First Lieut., 7th Infantry, May 14, 1861) Department of New Mexico, June, 1861, to Oct., 1863, being engaged in the Defense of Ft. Craig, N. M., Aug., 1861, to Feb., 1862, — Battle of Valverde, N. M., Feb. 21, 1862, — Action of Peralta, N. M., Apr. 14‑15, 1862, — at Ft. Union, N. M., June, 1862, to Aug., 1863, — and Gallinas (Captain, 7th Infantry, Jan. 21, 1863) Spring, N. M., Sep.‑Oct., 1863; in command of 16th New York Cavalry, (Lieut.‑Colonel, 16th New York Cavalry Volunteers, Dec. 30, 1863) at Vienna, Fairfax, and Alexandria, Va., Jan. to June, 1864; in arrest, June 20 to Oct. 7, 1864. Mustered out of Volunteer Service, Oct. 7, 1864. Served: in garrison at Tallahassee, Fla., Oct., 1866, to Sep., 1868 (in arrest and awaiting sentence, Jan. 23 to June 6, 1868), — and at Ft. Brooke, Fla., to Apr., 1869; and on frontier duty at Omaha, Neb., May, 1869, — Camp Douglas, Utah, to May, 1870, — and Camp Baker, Mon., to Jan. 1, 1871. Honorably Mustered out of Service, Jan. 1, 1871. Civil History. — Unknown, nothing authentic having been received. |
