Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1856, to May 6, 1861, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 4th Infantry, May 6, 1861. Served during the Rebellion of the Seceding States, 1861: in drilling Volunteers at Washington, D. C., May 6 to June 6, 1861. Dismissed, June 6, 1861, "for Tendering his Resignation in the Face of the Enemy." Joined in the Rebellion of 1861‑66 against the United States.a Died, Apr. 8, 1862, of Wounds received in the Battle of Shiloh, Ten.: Aged 25. |
a As with other Confederate officers, Cullum's Register omits his war record. Information on him is scarce, but his name is inscribed, with the rank of Lieut.‑Colonel, 2d Arkansas Regiment, on the Arkansas Memorial at Shiloh Battlefield, as having been wounded there on April 6, and died April 7.
