C., May‑June, 1861; in Operations in (First Lieut., 2d Artillery, June 10, 1861) the Shenandoah Valley, June to Oct., 1861; on sick leave of absence, Oct. 21 to Nov. 26, 1861; in the Defenses of Washington, D. C., Nov.‑Dec., 1861; in Defense of Ft. Pickens, Fla., Jan. to May, 1862; on Quartermaster and Commissary duty at Pensacola, Fla., May to Aug., 1862; as Aide-de‑Camp to Brig.‑General Arnold, Sep. 1, 1862, to Mar. 24, 1863; and on sick leave of absence, Mar. 24 to July 4, 1863. Served: at the Military Academy, 1863‑65, as Asst. Instructor of Infantry and Artillery Tactics, Aug. 29, 1863, to Aug. 5, 1865, — and Asst. Professor of Geography, History, and Ethics, Sep. 1, 1863, to Oct. 10, (Captain, 2d Artillery, June 15, 1864) 1864; in command of Company at Ft. Stevens, Or., Oct., 1865, to Dec., 1867. Resigned, Dec. 9, 1867. Civil History. — Unknown, nothing authentic having been received. Vol. IV Civil History. — Unknown. Vol. V Civil History. — Unknown, no information having been received. a Cullum gives no death data; the 1920 and later Supplements to the Register mark him as having died, but offer no other information. The death date I give here is taken from the Find-a‑Grave page linked above, which also has information about his career after he left the Army.
