Born Apr. 25, 1844.a Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1861, to June 23, 1865, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 1st Artillery, June 23, 1865. Served: in garrison at Ft. Totten, D. C., Oct. 1‑17, 1865, — Ft. Wadsworth, N. Y., Oct. 18, 1865, to May 7, 1866, — and at Ft. Trumbull, Ct., (First Lieut., 1st Artillery, Dec. 14, 1865) May 7 to June 22, 1866, being detached to the Canada frontier to prevent

Fenian Raids, June 2‑18, 1866; with Engineer Battalion at Willet's Point, N. Y., June 27, 1866, to June, 1868, being Battalion Quartermaster, Nov. 6, 1866, to June, 1868; and as Assistant Engineer under the orders of Major Warren, June, 1868, to Mar., 1870, — of the Pacific Board of Engineers for Fortifications, Mar., 1870, to Mar. 22, 1871, — and of Lieut.‑Colonel Kurtz, May 5 to June 21, 1871. Died, June 21, 1871, at Germantown, Pa.: Aged 27. Buried, Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA. |
