Reuben Winslow Petrikin: Born Jan. 23, 1843, Benezette, PA.a Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1861, to June 23, 1865, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 2d Artillery, June 23, 1865. Transferred to 1st Artillery, Sept. 23, 1865. Served: in garrison at Ft. McHenry, Md., Oct. 11‑15, 1865, — and Ft. Schuyler, N. Y., Oct. 16, 1865, to June 2, 1866; on Canada frontier, to prevent Fenian Raids, June 2‑14, 1866; as Assistant Engineer in the (First Lieut., 1st Artillery, Feb. 1, 1866)
(Transferred, June 2, 1866, to Rank as First Lieut.,
construction of Ft. Popham, Me., June 16, 1866, to Apr., 1867, — and in Expedition against hostile Indians on the Plains, June 1 to Oct. 1, 1867; on frontier duty at Omaha, Neb., Oct., 1867; on leave of absence to Jan. 20, 1868; as Chief Engineer of the Department of the Platte, to Dec. 15, 1868; and on leave of absence to Feb. 15, 1869. Resigned, Feb. 15, 1869. Civil History. — Lumbering, Mining, and Engineering, 1869‑80. Chief Engineer of the International Railroad from Laredo to the city of Mexico, 1881‑82.
