Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, Oct. 19, 1863, to June 17, 1867, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to

Second Lieut., Corps of Engineers, June 17, 1867.

Served: as Assistant Engineer on the Geodetic Survey of the Northern Lakes, Aug. 17, 1867, to May 5, 1869 (leave of absence, Oct. 16, 1867, to Jan., 1868, and July to Sept., 1868), — on the Improvement of the Des Moines Rapids of Mississippi River, May 6, 1869, to Nov. 5, 1870; and on leave of absence, May 1 to June 18, and Nov. 5 to Dec. 25, 1870.

Honorably Discharged at his own Request, Dec. 25, 1870.

Civil History. — Contractor for U. S. River Improvements, 1871‑75. Mining in Iowa, 1875‑77.

Died, July 7, 1877, at Iowa City, Ia.: Aged 34.

Buried, Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City, IA.
