Edward Munro Merriman: Born June 11, 1843, Auburn, NY.a Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, Sep. 1, 1863, to June 17, 1867, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 1st Artillery, June 17, 1867. Served: in garrison at Ft. Lafayette, N. Y., Oct. 1, 1867, to May 15, 1868, — Ft. Hamilton, N. Y., May to Nov., 1868, — New Orleans, La., Dec., 1868, — Greenville Barracks, La., Jan. to Mar., 1869, — Ft. Riley, Kan., Apr., 1869, to Sep., 1870, — and Ft. Ontario, N. Y., to Dec. 8, 1870. Honorably Mustered out of Service, Dec. 8, 1870. Civil History. — Unknown, nothing authentic having been received. Vol. IV Civil History. — Lawyer, Little Rock, Ark. — Judge of one of the courts of Arkansas for four terms (eight years). Vol. V Civil History. — Unknown. Vol. VI (Edward Munro Merriman, Born June 11, 1843.) Military History. — Second Lieut., 1st Artillery, June 17, 1867. Honorably Mustered Out of Service, Dec. 8, 1870. Civil History. — Civil Engineer on the Little Rock and Fort Smith Railroad; resided at Conway, Arkansas, where he was Paymaster, Mayor, County Judge for eight years, member of State Legislature. Died, May 24, 1917, at Conway, Ark.: Aged 74. Obituary in Annual Report, Association of Graduates, for 1917. Buried, Oak Grove Cemetery, Conway, AR. |
