Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1863, to June 17, 1867, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 1st Artillery, June 17, 1867. Served: in garrison at Ft. Wadsworth, N. Y., Oct., 1867, to June 7, 1868; on leave of absence, June 7 to Dec., 1868; and in garrison at Brownsville, Tex., Dec., 1868, to Apr., 1869 — and Ft. Trumbull, Ct., to May 1, 1869. Resigned, May 1, 1869. Civil History. — Banker, New York city, since 1869. Vol. IV Civil History. — Farmer, — residence, Stamford, Ct. Vol. V Civil History. — Farmer. — Residence, Stamford, Ct. Vol. VI (Leander Townsend Howes, Born July 1, 1844.) Military History. — Second Lieut., 1st Artillery, June 17, 1867. Resigned, May 1, 1869. Civil History. — Banker in New York City, 1869‑1884; Farmer at Stamford, Conn., 1884 to 1918; made some thirty visits to Europe during the winters of 1870‑1914.
