Horatio Morgan Jones: Born May 13, 1847, Philadelphia, PA.a Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, Oct. 19, 1863, to June 17, 1867, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 4th Artillery, June 17, 1867. Served: in garrison at Battery Rodgers, Va., Sep. 30 to Oct., 1867, — Ft. Monroe, Va., Nov., 1867, to June, 1869 (Artillery School for Practice, Jan. to June, 1869), — Ft. Foote, Md., June, 1869, to Aug. 31, 1870, p102 — Ft. Riley, Kan., Sep. 15, 1870, to Apr., 1871, — and Ft. McHenry, Md., May, 1871, to Sep. 29, 1872; and on leave of absence, Sep. 29, 1872, to June 1, 1873. Resigned, June 1, 1873. Civil History. — Lumber Dealer, Philadelphia, Pa., 1873‑87.
