Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, Sep. 16, 1863, to June 15, 1868, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to

Second Lieut., 6th Cavalry, June 15, 1868.

Served: on frontier duty at Ft. Richardson, Tex., Oct. 11, 1868, to Feb., 1869, — Jefferson, Tex., to June, 1869, — Canton, Tex., to July, 1869, — Tyler, Tex., to Jan. 30, 1870, — and Ft. Richardson, Tex., to Jan. 1, 1871.

Honorably Discharged, at his own Request, Jan. 1, 1871.

Civil History. — Civil Engineer, in the service of the United States, in District of Columbia, 1872‑78, and on Geological Survey, since 1878.
