Gratiot, Mich., to Apr., 1869; awaiting orders, to May 21, 1869; (Unassigned, Apr. 8, 1869) on General Recruiting Service, June, 1869, to Sep., 1870; on frontier duty (Assigned to 13th Infantry, July 14, 1869) at Ft. Fred Steele, Wy., to May 11, 1871, — Camp Brown, Wy., May 26 to Dec. 5, 1871; and before Retiring Board and awaiting orders, to June 29, 1872.

a Lt. Fitzpatrick's birthdate is from his AOG obituary. If the year is accurate (see next note), he would have been sixteen at most on entering the Academy.
b The grave on this page may be Lt. Fitzpatrick's — the date of birth on the tombstone almost matches his birthdate as given in the AOG obituary, and the cemetery is in the same Ohio county as his place of death — but, absent any better information, it's by no means certain to me.
