Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1865, to June 15, 1869, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 4th Artillery, June 15, 1869. Served at the Military Academy as Assistant Instructor of Ordnance and Gunnery, July 6 to Aug. 28, 1869 (leave of absence, Dec. 13, 1869). Resigned, Dec. 13, 1869. Civil History. — Land Agent, Topeka, Kan., 1870‑73. Editor of Topeka "Real Estate Register," 1870‑74; and of "Industrial Advocate," Lansing, Mich., 1874. Secretary of the "National Loan and Trust Company," at Topeka, Kan., 1873‑74. Banker, Tecumseh, Mich., since 1874. Mayor of Tecumseh, Mich., 1876‑77. Chief of Fire Department of Tecumseh, Mich., 1878. Captain, Michigan Militia, 1876; Major Staff (Judge Advocate of the State of Michigan), 1877; and Major of 1st Regiment of Michigan Militia, 1878. Vol. IV (William Crittenden Fitzsimmons) Civil History. — Civil and Mining Engineer. — Cultivated and dealt in orange orchards at Riverside, Cal., 1888‑92. — Member Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 1890‑93. — Editor of California Fruit Grower and State Journal of Horticulture, San Francisco, Cal., 1892 to 1896. — Operated gold mines in Oregon and California, 1896 to 1898. — Vice-President International and National Investments Co. of London, Paris, and San Francisco, 1898‑99. — Post-office address, San Francisco, Cal. Vol. V Civil History. — Dealer in real estate; land speculator, promoter, etc. Died April 21, 1900, at Cleveland, Ohio: Aged 60. |
