Robert Edward Coxe: Born 1850, near Montgomery, AL.a Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1866, to June 15, 1870, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 8th Cavalry, June 15, 1870. Served: in joining regiment and at Ft. Selden, N. M., Sep., 1870, to Dec. 17, 1871 (leave of absence, to Apr. 15, 1871), — conducting recruits to regiment, to May 19, 1872, — Ft. Selden, N. M., to July 23, 1872, — Santa Fé, N. M., to Dec., 1872, — in charge of office of Chief Quartermaster of the District of New Mexico, to Apr. 5, 1873, — Ft. Selden, N. M., Nov., 1873, — and Scouting, Nov., 1873; and on leave of absence, to Sep. 3, 1874. Resigned, Sep. 3, 1874. Civil History. — Hardware Merchant, Quincy, Ill., since 1875.
