Born Hillsboro, IL.a Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1868, to June 14, 1872, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 9th Infantry, June 14, 1872. Served: on frontier duty at Ft. Fred Steele, Wy., Sep. 29, 1872, to May, 1874, — Medicine Bow Station, May, 1874, — and at Spotted Tail Agency, Neb., to Sep. 26, 1875; and on leave of absence, to Mar. 27, 1876. Resigned, Mar. 27, 1876. Civil History. — Counselor at Law, Hillsborough, Ill., since 1875. Vol. IV Civil History. — Attorney at Law, Hillsboro, Ill., 1875 to ––––– Vol. V Military History. — Tendered services to Gov. Tanner, Ill., April 20, 1898, for Spanish-American War. — Offered, all members of company signing, Captaincy Co. E, 5th Regiment I. N. G., for Spanish-American War. — Declined. Civil History. — Lawyer, real estate and loan agent, Hillsboro, Ill., since Nov., 1875. — Director Hillsboro National Bank since Jan., 1899. — President Coffeen National Bank since Jan., 1905. — Before entering West Point, served as 1st Sergeant Co. C, 70th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, June 6 to Oct. 23, 1862. — Residence, Hillsboro, Ill. Vol. VI (Born Feb. 25, 1845.) Military History. — Second Lieut., 9th Infantry, June 14, 1872. Resigned, March 27, 1876. Civil History. — Lawyer, real estate and loan agent, Hillsboro, Ill., since November, 1875; Director Hillsboro National Bank since January, 1889; President Coffeen National Bank since January, 1905. Before entering the Military Academy, served as First Sergeant, Co. C, 70th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, June 6 to Oct. 23, 1862. Died, Aug. 31, 1919, at Hillsboro, Ill.: Aged 74.
