Thomas Norton Bailey.a Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1869, to June 13, 1873, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., Corps of Engineers, June 13, 1873. Served: at the Military Academy, as Assistant Professor of Engineering, July 5 to Sep. 1, 1873; with Engineer Battalion at Willet's Point, N. Y., Dec. 1, 1873, to May 21, 1874; as Assistant Engineer on the Geodetic Survey of the Northern Lakes, June 2, 1874, to Aug. 28, 1876; at the Military Academy, as Assistant Professor of Mathematics, Aug. 30, 1876, to Aug. 28, 1880; as Engineer Officer of the District of (First Lieut., Corps of Engineers, Oct. 16, 1877)
New Mexico, Sep. 15, 1880, to Feb. 23, 1881, and of the Department of the Missouri, Mar. 26, 1881, to Nov. 9, 1882; as Assistant to Colonel (Captain, Corps of Engineers, Mar. 19, 1884) Feb. 25, 1885; and in command of Engineer Company at Willet's Point, N. Y., Feb. 27, 1885, to Apr. 20, 1886. Died, Apr. 20, 1886, at Willet's Point, N. Y.: Aged 36. See Annual Association of Graduates, U. S. M.
