Edward Wanton Casey: Born Dec. 1, 1850, Benicia, CA.a Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1869, to June 13, 1873, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 22d Infantry, June 13, 1873. Served: on frontier duty at Ft. Sully, Dak., Oct. 9, 1873, to July 4, 1874; in garrison at Ft. Gratiot, Mich., July 9 to Sep. 18, 1874, — New Orleans, La., Sep. 23, 1874, to Apr. 29, 1875 (leave of absence, to May 29, 1875), — Ft. Gratiot, Mich., to June 1, 1876, — and Ft. Wayne, Mich., to July 11, 1876; on frontier duty in Sioux Expedition, Aug. 1‑31, 1876, — on Escort duty, Sep. 11 to Oct. 2, 1876, — and at Camp on Tongue River, Mon., to June 13, 1877; suppressing Railroad Disturbances in Pennsylvania, p220 July 25 to Oct. 22, 1877; in garrison at Ft. Brady, Mich., Oct. 28, 1877 (leave of absence, May 3 to June 2, and Oct. 10 to Nov. 17, 1878), to May 13, 1879; on frontier duty at Ft. Gibson, I. T., to Oct. 4, 1879, — Ute Expedition in Colorado, to Jan. 4, 1884, — and Ft. Clark, (First Lieut., 22d Infantry, Jan. 11, 1880) Tex., to July, 1880; at the Military Academy, as Asst. Instructor of Infantry Tactics, to Aug. 20, 1884; on leave of absence, to Oct. 20, 1884; as Regimental Adjutant, Sep. 1, 1884, to Jan. 31, 1887; and on frontier duty at Ft.
