Born Cincinnati, OH.a Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1873, to June 14, 1877, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 4th Artillery, June 15, 1877. Served: on leave of absence and awaiting orders, June 15 to Dec. 24, 1877; and on frontier duty at Ft. Canby, Wash., Dec. 24, 1877, to June 4, 1878, — in the field, to Sep. 22, 1878; in garrison at the Presidio of San Francisco, Cal., Sep. 25, 1878, to Oct. 4, 1879; at the Military Academy as Acting Professor of Chemistry, Mineralogy, and Geology, Oct. 21, 1879, to Sep. 10, 1880, and of Law, to Aug. 28, 1881; in garrison at the Presidio of San Francisco, Cal., to Nov. 19, 1881, — Ft. Adams, R. I., to Oct. 2, 1884, — and Ft. Trumbull, Ct., to Oct. 14, 1884; and on leave of absence, to Oct. 18, 1884. Resigned, Oct. 18, 1884. Civil History. — Unknown, nothing authentic having been received. Vol. IV Civil History. — Unknown. Vol. V Civil History. — Professional Accountant since date of resignation; Commissioned as Captain in 2d U. S. Volunteer Engineers, June 25, 1898 to May 10, 1899, during Spanish-American War; stationed at Honolulu, H. I. — Post-office address, 541 West Twenty-Third street, New York City. Vol. VI (Howard Abraham Springett, Born Jan. –––––, 1855.) Military History. — Second Lieut., 4th Artillery, June 15, 1877. Resigned, Oct. 18, 1884. Captain, 2d U. S.
