Served: on leave of absence and awaiting orders, June 15 to Dec. 12, 1877; on frontier duty at Ft. Clark, Tex., Dec. 12, 1877, to Jan. 30, 1878, — Ft. Concho, Tex., Feb. 9 to May 14, 1878, — Scouting, May 14 to Sep. 27, 1878, — Ft. Concho, Tex., and Scouting, Sep. 27, 1878, to July 19, 1882, — Ft. Davis, Tex., to Oct. 12, 1883; Peña Colorada, Tex., and Scouting, to Dec. 2, 1884, — Ft. Davis, Tex., to Apr. 17, 1885, — and (First Lieut., 10th Cavalry, Apr. 30, 1885) Ft. Verde, Ara., and Scouting, to Aug. 22, 1887; under instruction at the Infantry and Cavalry School of Application, Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., Sep. 1, 1887, to July 4, 1889; on frontier duty at Ft. Apache, Ara., to Oct. 10, 1889, — and San Carlos, Ara., to June 7, 1890. Resigned, June 9, 1890. Vol. IV Civil History. — Unknown. Vol. V Civil History. — Journalist and Mining Engineer; elected Municipal Judge and Recorder of Ashland, Oregon — serving (1908) third term in that office — President Ashland Commercial Club, having been elected three times to that office; Secretary Ashland Board of Trade, 1902‑1905. Vol. VI (Millard Fillmore Eggleston, Born Jan. 10, 1855.) Military History. — First Lieut., 10th Cavalry, April 30, 1885. Resigned, June 9, 1890. Civil History. — Resided at Ashland, Oregon, since 1890; journalist and mining engineer; editor of Ashland Semi-Weekly Tribune since 1893; Municipal Judge and Recorder of Ashland; thrice elected President Ashland Commercial Club; Secretary Ashland Board of Trade; member of Oregon Legislature, 1911. Died, Feb. 3, 1912, at Salem, Oregon: Aged 57. Portrait and obituary in Annual Report, Association of Graduates, for 1912. Buried, Hargadine Cemetery, Ashland, OR. |
