Born in 1856, Jefferson County, NY.a Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, Sep. 1, 1876, to June 11,º 1880, when he was graduated, and, availing himself of the provisions of Sec. 5 of the Act of Congress approved June 23, 1879, was Honorably Discharged, June 11, 1880. Civil History. — Unknown, nothing authentic having been received. Vol. IV Civil History. — Lawyer, Watertown, N. Y. — Civil Engineer, Kansas p326 City and Indian Territory, May, 1881 to Aug., 1882. — Professor of Mathematics, St. Lawrence University, Canton, N. Y., 1882‑83. — Degree of A. B. conferred by said university. — Admitted as attorney and counselor at law of the State of New York, Feb., 1884. — District Attorney of Jefferson County, N. Y., Jan. 1, 1887 to Jan. 1, 1893. — Civil Engineer in California, Sept., 1893 to March, 1896. — Practiced law at Watertown, N. Y., March, 1896 to May, 1899. Military History. — (Sergeant-Major, 9th N. Y. Volunteer Infantry, May 21, 1898.) (Second Lieut., 9th New York Volunteer Infantry, June 2, 1898) Served: At Chickamauga Park, Ga. — Regimental Adjutant, June 12. (Captain, 9th New York Volunteer Infantry, Aug. 4, 1898) (Honorably mustered out of Volunteer Service, Nov. 15, 1898) Vol. V Civil History. — Lawyer, Watertown, N. Y. a Capt. Peck's birthplace is from his AOG obituary; the year of his birth is from the Official Register of Officers and Cadets of the U. S. Military Academy, 1877, which lists him (p20) as being 20 years and 6 months old on Sep. 1, 1876.
