Charles Victor Donaldsona Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1883, to June 11, 1888, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 24th Infantry, June 1,º 1888. Served: on frontier duty at San Carlos, Ara., Sep. 30, 1888, to Mar. 12, 1889, — and Ft. Grant, Ara., to –––––. Vol. IV Military History. — Served: At Fort Grant, Ariz., to July 10, 1890. Drowned July 15, 1890, at Santa Ana, California, in attempting to save life, having previously rescued two other persons: Aged 24. See Annual Association of Graduates, U. S. M. A., 1891, for an obituary notice. Buried, Santa Ana Cemetery, Santa Ana, CA. |
a Lt. Donaldson's middle name is from List of Cadets admitted into the United States Military Academy, West Point, N. Y., from its Origin till September 1, 1886 (Washington: Government Printing Office, 1887).
