Born June 28, 1867, Mount Pleasant, IA.a Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, Sep. 1, 1885, to June 12, 1889, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 8th Cavalry, June 12, 1889. Served on frontier duty at Ft. Keogh, Mon., Sep. 9, 1889, to –––––. Vol. IV Military History. — Served: At Fort Keogh, Mont. (in the field, in North Dakota, during Sioux campaign, Nov., 1890 to Jan., 1891), to May, 1891. (Transferred to 5th Artillery, May 13, 1891) — On leave to Aug., 1891. — Garrison duty at Alcatraz Island, Cal., to June, 1892. — On regimental recruiting service at Salem, Ore., to Dec., 1892. — On garrison duty at Fort Canby, Wash., to Sept. 10, 1893.
