Born Dec. 21, 1868.a Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1886, to June 12, 1890, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Add. Second Lieut., 4th Artillery, June 12, 1890. Vol. IV (Maurice Gaston Krayenbuhl) Military History. — Served: Garrison duty at Fort Barrancas, Fla., Oct., 1890 (Second Lieut. of Artillery, 2d Artillery, Feb. 20, 1891) (Transferred to 5th Artillery, May 23, 1891) (Transferred to 2d Artillery, Aug. 12, 1891) to Aug., 1891; garrison duty at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., to Nov., 1891; at the Cavalry and Light Artillery School, Fort Riley, Kan., to Aug., 1894. — Under instruction at the Artillery School, Fort Monroe, Va., to Sept. 1, 1896 (Graduate, 1896). — Garrison duty at Fort Schuyler, N. Y., Oct., 1896 (First Lieut. of Artillery, 3d Artillery, Feb. 10, 1898) to June, 1898.

p494 — Served with battery en route to and in the Philippine Islands to Dec. 21, 1898. — Brigade Commissary, 2d Brigade, 2d Division, 8th Corps, Dec. 21, 1898 to March 26, 1899. — Rendered distinguished service at battle of Malate, near Manila, July 31, 1898, during the attack of the Spanish forces on the intrenchments of the U. S. forces, rallying the disordered men of the 10th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. — Served in the Philippine campaigns against Spaniards and insurgents to March, 1899.
