(Alfred Wettermarkº Drew) Born Apr. 27, 1867, Houston, TX.a Military History. — Cadet at the U. S. M. A., from June 16, 1887, to June 12, 1891, when he was graduated and promoted in the army to Second Lieut. of Infantry, 12th Infantry, June 12, 1891. Served: Garrison duty at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., Sept., 1891 to May, 1894. — In the field in Indian Territory to Aug., 1894. — At Fort Leavenworth, Kan., to Nov., 1894. — At Fort Niobrara, Neb., to Oct., 1896. — On duty with National Guard of Texas, Nov. 2, 1896 to the outbreak of the Spanish-American war. — Mustering duty in connection with Texas troops. (First Lieut. of Infantry, 12th Infantry, April 26, 1898) (Major, 3d Texas Volunteer Infantry, May 14, 1898) — Served at various stations in Texas until mustered out of volunteer service, Feb. 22, 1899, (Honorably discharged from Volunteer Service, Feb. 22, 1899) when he returned to duty with the National Guard of Texas, and remained on that duty to April, 1899. — Joined 12th Infantry at Manila, and assigned to command of Company I, in the trenches south of the city, May 23, 1899. — In command of company in the field, at San Pedro Macati, Pasay, San Fernando, on the Morong expedition, in the engagement at Tay Tay, June 3, 1899, at the capture of Angeles, Aug. 16.
