Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1820, to July 1, 1825, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., Marines, July 1, 1825. Served: at the Marine Barracks, Washington, D. C., 1825‑26; and
(Transferred to 7th Infantry, July 10, 1826,
on frontier duty at Ft. Gibson, I. T., 1826‑28, — Ft. Jesup, La., 1828‑30, — and Ft. Gibson, I. T., 1830‑31. Drowned, May 27, 1831, in Arkansas River, near Ft. Gibson, I. T.: Aged 26. Buried, Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, OK. |
a His tombstone (q.v.) gives his first name as Frederic; but it is a 20c marker: I don't know what records it might be based on.
