Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1822, to July 1, 1826, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Bvt. Second Lieut., 1st Artillery, July 1, 1826. Second Lieut., 3d Artillery, July 1, 1826. Served: at the Military Academy, 1826‑29, as Asst. Professor of Chemistry, Mineralogy, and Geology, Aug. 30, 1826, to Aug. 31, 1828, — and as Asst. Professor of Engineering, Aug. 31, 1828, to Aug. 31, 1829; and in garrison at Ft. Preble, Me., 1830‑31, — Ft. Moultrie, S. C., 1831‑32, — Ft. Monroe, Va., 1832‑34, — Ft. Mitchell, Ala., 1834, — and Ft. Brooke, Fla., 1834‑35. Resigned, Aug. 31, 1835. p366 Civil History. — Clergyman of the Protestant Episcopal Church, 1839‑46. Principal of Botetourt Academy, Va., 1845‑46. Died, Aug. 15, 1846, at Botetourt, Va.: Aged 42. |
