(Kenneth Ebbecke Kern, Born Sept. 27, 1888, Easton, PA.)a Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, June 15, 1907, to June 13, 1911, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 24th Infantry. Served: At Madison Bks., N. Y., Sept. 12 to November, 1911; en route to Philippines, Dec. 5, 1911, to Jan. 1, 1912; at Camp Jossman, Batangas, Corregidor and Manila to March 15, 1915; en route to U. S. to April 16; at Douglas, Arizona, with 11th Infantry, and as Provost Marshal to (First Lieut. of Infantry, July 1, 1916) (Captain of Infantry, May 15, 1917) 1917, and at Chattanooga, Tenn., to 1918; at Spartanburg, S. C., with 54th Infantry, organized Train Hdqrs. and Military Police, 6th Division; (Major of Infantry, National Army, June 7, 1918) transferred to 601st Infantry, (afterwards renamed 601st Pioneer Infantry), June 18, 1918; sailed for France with regiment, Sept. 7; served with regiment in France to Feb. 1, 1919; on Aisne Front from Château-Thierry to Chemin des Dames; returned from France as Division Adjutant, 92nd Division (colored); assigned on demobilization to 5th Infantry, Camp Taylor, Ky., at Germantown, Ohio, commanding Reserve Officers' Training Corps Unit at Miami Military Institute, May 20 to Oct. 16; at Camp Taylor, Ky., with 16th Infantry, October, 1919, to ––––– Vol. VII Military History: — Captain of Infantry, May 15, 1917. Major of Infantry, National Army, June 7, 1918. At Camp Taylor, Ky., with 16th Infantry, Oct., 1919, to June 4, 1920; with 1st Ammunition Train, June 5 to Returned to Grade of Captain, June 30, 1920. Major of Infantry, July 1, 1920. July 15, 1920; at Camp Dix, N. J., commanding 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry, Oct. 4, 1920, to Sept. 1, 1922; at Ft. Leavenworth, Kans., student officer at Command and General Staff School, Sept. 4, 1922, to Aug. 6, 1923, when he was graduated; at Chicago, Ill., Assistant Organized Reserve Officer, Headquarters 6th Corps Area, Sept. 8, 1923, to Sept. 17, 1924.
