Thayer's Note:

a The fuller biographical sketch at Find-a‑Grave, linked under the burial information, gives May 7 as the date of his death, and has every appearance of having been taken from a careful source. (The biography is also interesting on several accounts, and includes details of what amounts to Confederate service during the War.)
