Before entering the Academy, served as Private, 14th Company, Coast Artillery Corps, Apr. 11, 1917, to June 25, 1918; 2nd Lieutenant Coast Artillery Reserves, June 26, 1918, to Feb. 28, 1919; Private, Corporal and Sergeant, Headquarters Company, 30th Infantry, May 28, 1919, to June 11, 1920; at Fort Crockett, Tex., with Coast Artillery Corps, June 26, 1918, to Jan. 25, 1919; on special duty, Jan. 26, to Feb. 28, 1919.

Civil History: — Geophysical Engineer, Roxana Petroleum Corporation, Oct., 1925, to Dec., 1926; Assistant Valuation Engineer, C. R. R. of N. J., Apr., 1927, to Aug., 1927; Permanent and total disability incident to the service became apparent Aug., 1927.
