Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1829, to July 1, 1833, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Bvt. Second Lieut., 4th Infantry, July 1, 1833. Served: in garrison at Ft. Mitchell, Ala., 1833‑34; in Operations in (Second Lieut., 4th Infantry, Nov. 28, 1835) Cherokee Nation, 1834‑36; in the Florida War against the Seminole Indians, 1836‑38, being engaged in the Battle of Okee-cho-bee, Dec. 25, 1837, where he was wounded; in Operations in the Cherokee Nation, 1838‑39, during the removal of the Indians to the West; and on frontier duty at Ft. Gibson, I. T., 1839‑40. Resigned, Mar. 31, 1840. Died, 1840, at Sea: Aged 26. |
