a Col. Shaw — he is given that rank in a newspaper obituary fragments of which are found online — died after the publication of Vol. IX (1950), the most recent volume of the Supplements to Cullum's Register available to me, which may also be the most recent volume in the public domain. The date of his death is from a placeholder page at the West Point Association of Graduates.
