Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1833, to July 1, 1837, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 4th Infantry, July 1, 1837. Served: in the Florida War against the Seminole Indians, 1837‑38, being engaged in the Battle of Okee-cho-bee, Dec. 25, 1837; and as (First Lieut., 4th Infantry, Apr. 1, 1840) Aide-de‑Camp to Bvt. Brig.‑General Taylor, Oct. 28, 1838, to May 12, 1840. Resigned, Oct. 3, 1840. Civil History. — Counselor at Law, 1842‑61. Military History. — Served during the Rebellion of the Seceding States, 1861‑62, on Commissary duty, as Captain, Staff — Com. of Subsistence, U. S. Volunteers, Sep. 30, 1861, till his appointment was negatived by the Senate, and Revoked by the President, Feb. 3, 1862. Died, Aug. 4, 1863, at Washington, D. C.: Aged 46. |
