John Sylvanus Allansona Military History. — Cadet of the Military Academy, Oct. 24, 1812, to Mar. 11, 1814, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Third Lieut., 1st Artillery, Mar. 11, 1814. Served: in the War of 1812‑15 with Great Britain, on Recruiting service, (Second Lieut., 1st Artillery, May 1, 1814) (Transferred to Corps of Artillery, May 12, 1814) 1814‑15; as Aide-de‑Camp to Brig.‑General Miller, Aug. 18, 1816, to Apr. 17, 1818; in garrison at Portsmouth, N. H., as Battalion Adjutant (First Lieut., Corps of Artillery, Apr. 20, 1818) of Artillery, June 1, 1818, to Apr. 20, 1820. Resigned, Apr. 20, 1820. Died, 1830, at Sea, on Voyage to Russia. |
