Military History. — Cadet of the Military Academy, May 22, 1812, to Mar. 30, 1814, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., Corps of Engineers, Mar. 30, 1814. Served: at the Military Academy as Principal Asst. Professor of Mathematics, from Apr. 1, 1814, to Dec. 1, 1816; and at West Point, on duty with the Company of Bombardiers, Sappers and Miners, 1816‑18. Resigned, July 23, 1818. Civil History. — Counselor at Law, Norwich, Vt., 1818‑60. Postmaster, Norwich, Vt., 1835‑38, and 1853‑56. Member of the Conventions to amend the Constitution of the State of Vermont, 1836, 1843, and 1857. Died, Sep. 10, 1860, at Norwich, Vt.: Aged 63. |
