George Bomford: A technical expert in ordnance, he rose to Chief of Ordnance of the Army, and Inspector of Arsenals, Ordnance, Arms and Munitions of War.

William McRee: Chief Engineer of the Army of the Niagara in the War of 1812.

Joseph G. Totten: Chief Engineer of the Army, a specialist in harbor fortifications mostly, whose military career spanned almost 60 years, with service at the front in the War of 1812 and the Mexican War and in particular the siege of Vera Cruz.
