Usually, Superintendents are relieved by their successors at Annapolis. The date of accession of a new Superintendent is the date of departure of his predecessor. In some instances there has been a short interregnum. Rear Admiral F. A. Parker died as Superintendent. Rear Admiral C. R. P. Rodgers served twice; his second term lasted only a few months.
