This information is taken from the Navy Register and lists vessels assigned as of 1 January unless otherwise stated. The Register sometimes included ships coming out from the Atlantic coast or returning home; hence the actual number of vessels on station occasionally was smaller than this list would make it appear.
After 1915, the composition of the Pacific Fleet varied rapidly, and the Register ceased to give information as to fleet composition. Therefore, it was considered impractical to extend the list beyond 1 January 1915.
(F) indicates the flagship of the commander in chief, (f) squadron or division flagship. Vessels serving in Asiatic waters (Third Squadron, Pacific Fleet) and torpedo flotillas when operating as independent commands, are not listed.
