Heavy fines are imposed for defacing an Angkor monument or for removing any portion thereof.
According to former Curator Henri Marchal (1916‑1933), "One forgets too easily that these ruins were religious edifices where rites were celebrated, and that every religion deserves to be respected. Besides . . . the admirable sculptures . . . receive their full values only from their situation; detached or broken they lose all meaning and are nothing but insignificant fragments."

3. By Air: for East or West. Air France leaves Saigon for Bangkok, Calcutta and Europe Sundays; for Hongkong Wednesdays.
