Aquila
by Luigi Serra

The Text on this Site

The monograph was published in 1929 by the Istituto Italiano d'Arti Grafiche, Bergamo, as part of its series "Italia artistica". The author Luigi Serra died in 1940, so the work rose into the public domain on January 1, 2011. I keyed the text from the first edition.

The book is in Italian, although I've started translating it into English; the 140 photos, many of them excellent, will be found useful by all.

The icon I use to indicate this subsite elsewhere onsite (often in the navigation bar at the foot of my pages) is the photograph — from p127 of the book — of the church of S. Maria del Suffragio.
