Augustus Hare: in Good Company

— actually, the uncle of the famous author. . .
I am indebted to the author of the Augustus Hare website for the bad news!

He is buried in the older and more attractive NE section, as are Keats and Shelley.
The tall grey mass in the background is the Pyramid of Cestius.

The inscription reads:

AUGUSTUS WILLIAM HARE

LATE FELLOW OF NEW COLLEGE OXFORD

AND

RECTOR OF ALTON BARNES, WILT.

Born at Rome Nov 17th 1792

Died at Rome Feb 18th 1824

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,

long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith

meekness, temperance

Galatians V.22

The famous Augustus Hare, on the other hand, whose grave for a few months I thought this was, was born on 13 Mar 1834, died on 22 Jan 1903 — and is buried at Herstmonceaux Castle, Sussex.
