Link to Platner and Ashby's Topographical Dictionary of Ancient Rome

[ 2/17/00: 3 pages, 3 photos ]

Platner and Ashby's Topography of Ancient Rome is always a good place to start: the basic information and all the key references up to their time (1929). In this case, some of my own photos, as well.

A detailed view of a small ivy-leaf incised in stone.

A page on the inscription: why is the hedera you see here so large? Readable photos, transcription, translation conceal more than they tell, but still give us an opportunity to look at one of the bad emperors.
