The Jewel of Macerata Province

[image ALT: A partial view of a roughly square room, about 10 meters on a side, taken towards a corner and including a raised rectangular marble chest in the center of the room. It is a view of the Cappellone in the Basilica of S. Nicola di Tolentino in the Marche (central Italy), with the 16c tomb of the saint.]

A view of the Cappellone in the Basilica of S. Nicola di Tolentino:
NE corner of the chapel, with the 15c tomb of the saint in the center.
The door to the left leads to the nave of the basilica.

For now — this site is very much a work in progress — a small sampler of 6 scenes representing less than 10% of the chapel:

The Massacre of the Innocents

The Holy Family Returns from Exile in Egypt

The Boy Jesus in the Temple with the Doctors of the Law

Christ's Entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday

Christ's Descent into Hell

Pentecost: the Birth of the Church

For an idea of how the whole fits together, see the official site (linked in the navigation bar below).
