The ancient Benedictine abbey church of S. Angelo del Rosario is now in ruins (for the second time in its history): but look carefully at the lower courses of stone, mostly on the left in this photo. Those large neat blocks of travertine came from some Roman building on or near the Via Flaminia that passed about 300 meters to our right. |
