The Railworkers' Chapel
in Foligno Train Station

Here and there in Italy, we find chapels in train stations; usually Catholic of course. This is the little room in the station at Foligno set aside for the prayers of railworkers and the occasional passenger.

Facing the altar, we see about half the sanctuary. The altar and furnishings are crafted of various railroad matériel. (I'm not a railroad buff: if you know what item of equipment has been repurposed for the pulpit, I'd love to hear from you.)

No modern Catholic church would be complete without an chapel or an altar dedicated to the Virgin Mary; despite the limited space available, this little sanctuary is true to form:

On the Epistle-side wall, what in a larger space would be a full-size chapel. Our Lady of Fatima is recognizable by the three children praying, the two girls Lucia and Jacinta to Mary's right, and Francisco the boy to her left.
