Protectress of S. Pellegrino

[A rectangular tile plaque depicting a woman wearing a tall crown and holding a naked baby in a rather awkward position, meant for us to see him clearly. The plaque is in a niche with a little iron railing forming a shelf on which sit a votive lamp and a pot with a begonia. It is a wayside shrine in S. Pellegrino di Gualdo, Umbria (central Italy).]

On the wall of a private house in the little town of S. Pellegrino the visitor can see this mid‑20c edicola. It's not just a generic depiction of the Virgin Mary, but an appeal to the protectress of the town on her feast day, as we can see by moving in a little closer:

Our Lady of Montecamera, pray for us.

The two churches are S. Pellegrino to our left, and to our right one that I haven't yet seen: the Romanesque shrine of S. Maria di Montecamera, atop the hill by that name overlooking the village.
