Viepri was originally a walled and fortified stronghold, bitterly fought over by Todi and Foligno. Two gates have survived, and in the west one, which you see here, the little church of S. Giovanni Battista was built, fronting inside the town of course — all we can make out is the open belfry. Here my photos run out (except for a shot of a ruined tower just outside town); you haven't seen the second gate, and for my part, I haven't finished exploring: I hope to visit again. |
