A town of western Umbria — a frazione of Montecastello di Vibio — 42°50.5N, 12°22E, altitude: 182 m |
The church of the Madonna del Piano: concrete, late 20c. |
Madonna del Piano (loosely, "the Madonna in the plain") is a frazione — in this case a scattered group of houses — of the comune of Montecastello di Vibio perched nearly 250 meters above it and about 4 km W. Because of its location in the plain, it has more in common with Fratta Todina, which is also the nearest town, if not by much: including the railroad station, just 2 km away.
The gentle reader mustn't get the idea I know the town well. I crossed it on foot late one morning; some very slight additional feel for the place may be got from the brief entry in my diary, Mar. 13, 2004.
Images with borders lead to more information.
The thicker the border, the more information. (Details here.) |
