LXXII

Truncum terra tegit, latitant in cespite lymphae;
Alveus est modicus, qui ripas non habet ullas;
In ligno medio vehitur, quae ligna vehebat.

Peck:

The earth my body covers, streams in sod abide,
Confined my bed, nor has it banks upon the side,
And that which wood hath ridden, now in wood doth ride.

Ohl:

The turf protects a tree-trunk, a liquid lurks beneath the sod; a channel of modest size there is which has no banks; in wood's midst is borne that which bore wood.
