Deucalion ego sum crudeli sospes ab unda,
Affinis terra, sed longe durior illa;
Littera decedat: volucris quoque nomen habebo.

Peck:

Deucalion am I, from cruel waves set free,
And like the earth, but harder far than she,
Leave off a letter, then a flying thing I'll be.

Ohl:

Deucalion am I, saved from the cruel wave, related to earth but harder far than it. Let one letter drop the name of a flying creature too I shall have.
