St. George and Diocletian: Georgian Icon (1)

The Nakipari icon, in repoussé work, dates from the early 11th century. It is elaborately signed by its smith, Asat Gvazavaisdze. Diocletian is crowned, but unarmed (see also the Labechina icon). Svaneti Museum of History and Ethnography.
